Paradise Point Resort & Spa

San Diego, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

Overlooking spectacular Mission Bay in San Diego, you can really take advantage of the bayside setting here — chill out by the water or by one of the pools, go out in a sailboat or speedboat, or take surf lessons. Paradise Point is set on its own 44-acre island, with lush gardens and a mile-long white sand beach. One of the best things about it is that whilst its secluded spot makes you feel like you are a million miles away from it all, you're actually just minutes from downtown San Diego.

My granddaughters loved it. They are 2 and 5. The grown ups were frustrated by the staffing problems. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but there aren't enough people to handle the number of guests. It started with the long line at check in, which never subsided. We couldn't get our 3 rooms cleaned despite multiple calls. I finally told them if they weren't cleaned by the time we returned from dinner we would not be paying for them. That worked. Last, the restaurants were mostly empty, while waiting guests were told they couldn't be seated. Not enough servers, I suppose. One night we sat at the bar so the bartender could serve us, while the tables remained 90% empty. Lame. Read less

I will start by saying the grounds are beautiful and the beds were so comfy! We loved our bay front room and the kids loved feeding the turtles. The staff on the grounds were very receptive and quick with our requests for blankets. Blez at the front desk was very friendly. I can’t say the rest were friendly. We called ahead and asked for an early check in. When we arrived at 2pm we were told that check in is at 4. I explained we called and Lorre(?) said she saw the note but the best she could do is page housekeeping and in her words “they tell us we have to tell you check in is at 4 and there is no guarantee”. I totally understand! Well at 4:20 we were still waiting to check in. My husband had to go in and ask why our room wasn’t ready. The front desk said a supervisor had to “go inspect it”. We had to go back again and 4:45 and magically our room was finally ready. I just don’t understand why they said check in is at 4 and our room would be ready. We should not have to go check so many times and should have been updated. Blez did help us get a room credit for the trouble. I would have given a 5 star, however, the sassy attitude from the front desk and trouble at check in was not ok. Read less

Great place to stay. You are located near attractions or you can just enjoy the resort. We were able to walk to Sea World and to Belmont Park. Rental bikes are nice to to take over to the beach area as well.

Our family decided to visit Paradise Point to get a break from work and school during spring break of 2024 and we had an amazing time. The resort was emasculate and the restaurants did not disappoint.

My first time to Paradise Point, but it will not be my last! The facilities are amazing and the staff is so helpful and nice. I love the bungalows, seems so much more welcoming than a traditional hotel.
