How to decide whether my USB Storage device needs extra power supply?
There may be multiple factors indicating that an Android device does not provide enough power to the USB storage device:

  • Nothing happens when the drive is connected to the Android device or the hard drive produces extraneous noises on connection. This symptom mostly relates to external hard drives as they need a time to “spin up” before start operating.
  • It takes a long time to mount volumes from the drive and mounting occasionally fails.
  • Read and Write file operations sometimes freeze for several minutes.

In case of power issues, we recommend you to provide your USB drive with more power. To do so, employ a Y-OTG cable or USB-hub with external power supply.

I chose your app as the ‘Default’ software to operate with my flash drive. Now, other apps that provide access to USB storage cannot operate with the drive.
This is how the Android “Default App” option works. Once an app is set up as default for the flash drive, each time the drive is connected to your Android device it will be opened with this selected app (unless you restore the default settings).

How to reset the default settings for Microsoft exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon Software: Go to “Settings” – “Apps” – “Microsoft exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon Software” – “Open by default” and choose the “CLEAR DEFAULTS” option.

What is the “built-in Android File Manager”?
The built-in Android File Manager is a native Android application included with the default stock configuration of Android. It was first introduced in Android 6.0. From Android Oreo onwards, this app has been named “Files” on devices running Stock Android. It may be accessed either by opening the “Downloads” app, or “Settings – Storage – Explore”, or directly from your Applications screen (if available).

The File Manager is not always easily accessible within customized vendor firmware of Android devices. However, when using our application, you can start the built-in Android File Manager directly from our app’s main screen and easily manage your files on USB flash drives.
