Lightning Blackjack Game Overview
The bet sizes available in Lightning Blackjack range from £2 to £5,000.
Game Rules
This live casino game follows traditional blackjack rules, meaning your final hand needs to be closer to 21 than the dealer's.
It is played with eight standard 52-card decks.
Cards will be shuffled after four decks have been dealt.
Lightning multipliers are available in this game - they give you the chance to win potentially higher payouts. Unlike other games, the multiplier depends on winner's score.
Card Values
Cards are worth the following values in Lightning Blackjack:
- Two to 10 - face value
- Face cards (Jack, Queen and King) - 10 each
- Aces - one or 11, depending on what is more favourable to the hand
How to Play
Start by placing your bet.
The dealer will deal all players one card face-up, followed by themself, as soon as the betting time has expired.
Players will then receive a second card face-up, while the dealer's second card will be dealt face-down.
The total sum of your hand will be shown on-screen.
Blackjack
This is the best result possible.
It is awarded if your first two cards equal 21 exactly.
Lightning Rules
Lightning rules give you the chance to win a multiplier on your next hand.
To participate, you must place a 100% Lightning fee alongside your initial bet (the Lightning fee isn't applicable if you Double Down or Split).
Lightning Multipliers
Should you win a game round, the payout of following round will be super-sized.
The multipliers for each winning hand result will appear on-screen once the betting time has expired.
If you win with a hand with '17 and below’, 18, 19, 20, 21 or Blackjack, a random multiplier of between 2x and 25x will be awarded.
Multipliers can carry over to your next game for up to 180 days, should you should to leave.
The multiplier only covers your bet in the Lightning fee paid in the triggering round. If you place a bigger bet, a standard blackjack payout will be applied to the excess amount; if you place a lower bet, a multiplier proportional to that amount will be awarded.
The following rules apply to Lightning multipliers:
- Lightning fees do not apply to Split and Double Down bets
- Split - if you Split and both hands win, the hand with the best score will determine the Lightning multiplier and be awarded it
- If you win the following round, the multiplier will be applied to the payout
- If you win with blackjack and a multiplier, only the multiplier will be awarded
- If you win a Push or Insurance bet with an active multiplier, your main bet will be returned and you will lose you Lightning fee and multiplier
Betting Options
Insurance Bets are available in this game - they reduce the impact if the dealer achieves blackjack.
You can only purchase Insurance if the dealer's first card is an Ace.
Insurance bets cost half the amount of your initial wager.
The dealer will then check their face-down card:
- If the dealer has blackjack, you will be awarded twice your Insurance bet
- If both you and the dealer have Blackjack, a Push will be declared and your wager will be returned
- If the dealer does not have Blackjack, your Insurance bet will become void and the game will continue as normal
Making a Decision
After your initial two cards have been dealt, you will be required to make one of the following decisions:
Decision | Desciption |

| Hit | Dealer deals you another card, which is added to your hand |
| Stand | Lets the dealer know you are happy with your hand and do not wish to receive any more cards |
| Double Down | Only possible if your hand does not equal 21. It sees you double your bet, and you can only receive one more card henceforth |
| Split | Only possible if your first two cards are of the same value - the cards will be split into two separate hands and played accordingly. If you split on a pair of aces, each hand can only receive one more card. It is not possible to Double Down on a split hand, and splitting is only available once per hand |
Please note: if your hand equals 21, you will not be required to make a decision.
Failing to make a decision before the betting time is up will result in the following outcome:
- If your hand equals 11 or less, you will Hit
- If your hand equals 12 or more, you will Stand
Outcome
Only when all players have taken their turn will the dealer turn over their face-down card.
If the dealer's hand totals 16 or less, they must Hit; if the dealer's hand totals a soft 17 or more, they must Stand.
This will determine the game outcome:
- You win if your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer's
- You win if the dealer 'Busts' (their hand exceeds 21)
- If your hand and the dealer's hands are of the same value, you Tie and your bet will be returned
- You lose if you 'Bust' (your hand exceeds 21) and your bet will be lost
Blackjack can only be achieved from the first two cards dealt.
Achieving 21 from a Split pair does not count as blackjack - this means that blackjack beats any hand of 21 resulting from a Split pair.
Return to Player
Return to Player (RTP): 99.56%.
The expected return to player is the amount we pay out to players relative to the amount of wagering on the game.
For example, if we take £100 of wagers we will, on average, pay out £99.56 of wins.
