A wonderful afternoon of military racing awaits courtesy of Grand Military Gold Cup Day.

Six races will unfold on the day itself, including the feature race The Grand Military Gold Cup which is for Military Amateur Jockeys only and is one of Sandown Park's oldest races.

The Racing & History

The feature race of the day, the Grand Military Gold Cup is a National Hunt Chase open to horses aged five years or older, ran over a distance of 3 miles and ½ furlong. The race is restricted to serving or retired Military Amateur Riders. The race was first run in 1841 and the 150th running took place in 2013. Last year saw Rolling Dylan complete a Military race double having won the Royal Artillery Gold Cup three weeks previous.
