My 50K and 12-hour Trail Marathon go to shoe

I can't sing Flux Flootwears's Adapt Trail Runners praises high enough! I also can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I run trails—often and far. Before trying the Adapt Trail Runners, my two smallest toes ('had none' and 'went wee wee all the way home') on my left foot would go numb after just a few minutes. Actually, they felt dead. I tried everything and was about to throw in the towel when, as a last-ditch effort, I bought a pair of Flux shoes. I didn't expect them to work magic, but they did! Not only has the numbness completely gone away but I didn't experience any foot pain on my last 12-hour Ultra. My feet, knees, and hips felt strong. I can't attribute this to training because I only had 6 weeks of training before the Ultra. I'm 53 years old and these shoes are breathing new life into my runs. Buying my third pair (as soon as black is back in my size—Women's 7.5). Thank you Flux Footwear!

A photo of blister-free feet and dirty shoes after 12 hours is attached.

    Best trail shoe

The adapt trail runner was perfect out of the box! I’ve taken off and on road and they transition easily. I love the knit collar it keeps the debris to a minimum when I use the runners in astroturf for ultimate frisbee. The rubber beads on turf are insidious and they get every where - not now. Brilliantly done-spot on fit.

    Love these shoes

I really love these shoes. I typically wear zero drop, wide toe box, bare sole shoes. These have some cushion in the sole, and I really liked it. I bought these for a specific race and they did not disappoint. Grip/traction was exactly what I needed. True to size. Excellent fit, especially around the ankle.

Great shoe but definitely NOT red

First and most importantly these shoes are extremely comfortable and have been amazing to use as my training shoe. I do a lot of optometric training and at 210 pounds am not a small guy so my shoes take a pounding and generally I can feel that the shoes are going to wear out fast by how the sole moves when I make quick changes of direction, etc. These shoes feel very strong and stable, the sole always stays firmly under foot even on hard cuts, broad jumps, etc. The fit on my foot is perfect, it's firm and supportive in the mid foot and heel while allowing lots room for spreading in the toe box (toe box is similar to Altra). Love the massaging insole, I find my feet feel less sore after training than normal.

The only con, and it's a very mild con, is these are absolutely not red as the picture indicates. To me it looks like an orange, pink color that is almost neon. The shoes perform so well though that I do not care that they clash with everything.

This has unseated Altra as my go to brand.

Love these to the moon(rise) and back!

Wide toe box has been great for stability. The zero drop has helped hip & ankle pain to allow for more natural body mechanics. I never thought I’d go sock-less, but I’ve embraced that too. And loving the moonrise color scheme!

Wearing bulky shoes is like keeping your feet in casts. Sure, they’re temporarily safe, and may even be able to recover from overuse, but this is merely a band-aid, not a long term solution. Your body works and feels best when it’s being used and appropriately challenged.

  • Stronger Feet: Traditional shoes restrict movement and weaken foot muscles over time. Barefoot shoes promote natural movement, strengthening muscles in the feet, ankles, and lower legs for better stability and strength.
  • Happier Toes: A wide toe-box gives your toes freedom to wiggle and flex. This builds up their strength and flexibility, making it easier to move around without hurting your ankles or knees.
  • Balanced Stride: A zero-drop design, meaning your heel and forefoot are on the same level, gives you a natural, graceful stride that takes the strain off your joints and perks up your posture.

"Barefoot shoes" is a general term for shoes that optimize the natural biomechanics of the human foot. To achieve that, our shoes feature excellent flexibility, zero-drop (no heel raise), and a generous toe-box to accomodate the foot's natural shape.

Flux shoes have a generous toe-box, thanks to the toe-off shape which creates ample room for the toes throughout the gait cycle.

Yes, these shoes are flat from heel to toe, allowing your feet to land naturally.

The amount of time it takes to transition to barefoot shoes varies for each individual, as everyone's feet are different and may adapt to the new shoes at different rates. However, the following general guidelines can help:

  • Gradual transition: Gradually increasing the amount of time you spend in barefoot shoes can help reduce discomfort and allow your feet to adjust to the new sensation of walking without shoes.
  • Start small: Begin by wearing barefoot shoes for a few hours at a time and gradually increase the duration as your feet get used to them.
  • Listen to your body: Pay attention to any discomfort or pain you experience while wearing barefoot shoes. If you experience discomfort, take a break and switch back to your regular shoes for a few days.
  • Give it time: It can take several weeks or even months for your feet to fully adjust to barefoot shoes, so be patient and persistent.

Keep in mind that everyone's feet are different and the transition time may vary. It's important to listen to your body and adjust accordingly to ensure a comfortable transition to barefoot shoes.
